Back in the 70's,the organisers of 6 car clubs (local to SW Scotland) decided to organise a rally championship. As each club all ready had a rally on it's calendar,it was decided to call the championship the Six of clubs championship. The idea was to promote a class based championship, that any car in any class could win overall.
Later,1 club was disbanded and it became the 5 of clubs championship.
After running successfully for a number of years, the championship was put into mothballs due to a lack of venues (Hallburn, Rhins, and the Machars rally) which were used for other purposes.
In mid 2005,and after a chit chat at Craigiebank Garage between our now chairman Billy McLelland and proprietor Ian Patterson, it was decided that the feelers would be put out to see if there was enough interest locally to revive the championship.
A general meeting then ensued, and a committee and co-ordinator was put in place after a good turn out of interested parties.
After 2 successful seasons we are now entering our third year in 2008,
We have attracted amazing sponsorship from local companies which has allowed us to offer some great prizes for the season ahead, along with subsidised testing facilities.
